Insuring an imported car in France
Assuming you’ve weighed up the practicalities of driving a right-hand car in France (i.e. safety), the first thing you should do is contact Philippe. (There are plenty of small details to consider, on which Philippe can provide further advice).
We have had plenty of experience in this particular area of insurance and have a wealth of know-how to help guide you through the minefield of administrative paperwork!
(NB: Cars which have not been imported into France by French importers can sometimes be difficult, or even impossible, to get registered. However, in European law it states if a car has already been registered in one European country, another European country is obliged to issue licence plates for it. We can provide you with the relevant article of law if you are having problems registering your car. Note that some départements will exceptionally require all documentation to be in French.)
